The overall vision for Diabetic Kidney Care(DKC) is to align Barts clinical academic expertise with the diverse East London patient population to become a world leader for therapeutic innovation in diabetic kidney disease.
Our clinical service is already responding to what is recognised by clinicians, academics, patients and commissioners to be East London’s leading health challenge.
The DKC will deliver the strategic leadership and infrastructure to enable cutting-edge discovery and translational research that will inform new methods of treatment and generate intellectual property (IP) that will directly meet this challenge, helping to improve both patient care and experience.
The translation of its output shall be accelerated by the continuous patient-directed focus of the DKC’s dissemination, education and training initiatives, to be undertaken in partnership with the next generation of national and international expert clinicians and scientists in the field of diabetic kidney care.
