 Objectives:

Barts Health Renal Unit and Diabetes Kidney Centre sent a delegation to Shenzhen, China, in November 2018 to participate in the inaugural International Forum on Renal Replacement Therapy.

The conference encompassed both a comprehensive peritoneal dialysis academy,  including practical and problem-based breakout sessions, and a plenary session held in the hospital's modern and impressive lecture theatre. Attendees, including Nephrology Service chiefs from across Guangdong Province and Hong Kong, heard Professor Yaqoob lecture on the state-of-the-art in contemporary renal transplantation, and bench-to-bedside lessons in understanding the uraemic heart, while Dr Stanley Fan shared practical experiences from the largest peritoneal dialysis programme in the UK (Royal London Hospital, Barts Health). The successful two day symposium provided opportunities to share clinical and academic ideas and experiences with Guangdong and Hong Kong nephrologists, and laid the foundations for friendships and exciting future international collaborations.
